Apple iWatch vs Google Glasses; Which Would You Rather Have?

I’m not going to write about rumors often but this one fascinates me. Apple iWatch is just a rumor at this point but let’s look at it in theory. If in theory Apple is developing an “iWatch”, how would it do versus Google Glasses?

Which would you rather have?

I can only speak for myself as I am not a mind reader! This topic is so new I have yet to debate with anyone on which could be better.

If in theory Apple comes out with iWatch(or something of that sort) I would clearly choose Google Glasses if you ask me. The decision would come down to one category an iWatch could theoretically not be able to match: augmented reality.

I would think that an Apple iWatch would be more of an annoyance instead of any help. If your like me, you have an iPhone, iPad and a MacBook Pro. You sync all your accounts and updates between devices. I’m already annoyed when someone iMessages me on my phone and I get the same message on my MacBook pro. Then I go to use my iPad and, oh look, there’s the message I just read twice again!

Now I get to have yet another device, strapped to my body nonetheless, to have more push updates sent to. More notifications on another device. I could only see myself totally annoyed by it.

In contrast, with Google Glasses I can see it as a total value add.

For one, I can see myself feeling refreshed having a device that doesn’t already do what my other devices do too but just in another form factor. With Google Glasses, I’ll be able to make augmented reality a daily part of my life. I won’t have to press buttons or slide my finger across a glass to get the time. I can just speak and it will be shown to me. The total advantage in Google Glasses is the convenience factor.

Some argue that people will be intimidated by having to wear a computer. I can see that as a valid point. In the end it will all come down to your preference as a consumer.

There are some artists renditions (speculation) of what iWatch could look like at Huffington Post and The Atlantic Wire.

Please keep in mind this is my view in a theoretical debate of Apple iWatch vs Google Glasses!
